CD63, also known as CD63 molecule, is a transmembrane protein encoded by the CD63 gene. It belongs to the transmembrane 4 superfamily, commonly known as the tetraspanin family. Tetraspanins are characterized by four hydrophobic domains and play crucial roles in cell development, activation, growth, and motility[5]. CD63 is mainly associated with the membranes of intracellular vesicles, but it can also be induced to express on the cell surface.
